Relief Operator- Utilities ( P11 )
Tugela Mill requires a Relief Operator to assist utilities in reducing overtime by providing leave/ training relief for current employees to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills (section specific and formal qualification).
This role reports to Operations Foreman Utilities
The Main Responsibilities of the job are:
- Takes and hand over shifts
- Complete section specific interventions/ initiatives as planned and agreed for all the identified positions for the specific section
- Assists the foreman/operating staff at breakdowns and in the supervision of staff when necessary
- Relieves operators and carries out all tasks prescribed for these positions
- Participates in team problem solving and production program development in order to determine root cause of problems
- Operates the Boilers and related equipment
- Report all breakdowns, faulty equipment to foreman.
- participate in shift activities (5 why problem- solviing etc)
- Conduct regular BBS Observations
- Ensures a safe working environment with the development of safety and housekeeping strategies
- Ensures that the Section complies in all respects with the relevant statutory requirements (OHS Act, Legal Appointment, etc) by implementing the necessary control measures and rectifying inadequacies and non-conformances
The ideal candidate should have:
- Matric and/or N3 Engineering Certificate (4 subjects)
- Minimum 6 months plant operations experience/ Process Trainee
