POSITION SUMMARY

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Will carry an appointment in terms of section 7 (4) MHSA no. 29 of 1996 read with regulation 2.17.1 and 2.9.2 of Minerals Act no. 50 of 1991
- Will conduct statutory duties in terms of regulation 2.19.1 and 21.9.2 of the Mine health and Safety Act and adhere to the mine policies and procedures
- Will report to the Chief Safety Officer
- Conduct working place inspection at the interval prescribed by the Chief Safety Officer
- Conduct Accident investigations and furnish the report in writing as prescribed in applicable regulations
- Will attend line management meetings and advice accordingly with safety issues
- Will do analysis of section in relation with safety performance and submit to line management
- Diligently attend monthly Planning meetings.
Appointment will be done accordance with our Employment Equity Plan.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or Equivalent
- Relevant Trade Certificate – An artisan with at least 5 years’ experience in a metallurgical operation / or
- A person competent in at least 4 metallurgical process sections with at least 5 years’ experience.
- COMSOC 1 & 2
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
- Knowledge of the MHSA or OHSA
- Valid driver’s license
- Medical Certificate of fitness
- English Proficiency
- Computer Literacy
- First Aid Certificate
Advantageous:
- ISO 450001 Lead Auditors Certificate
- Acting as Safety Officer (Plants)

- Responsible for Health and Safety
- Comply with objectives with regards to mine planning within the context of ORM Dept’s strategic goals
- Identify Opportunities
- Entrench Harmony values
- Ensure Deviations from Planning objectives are timeously identified and corrective action
- Contribute towards the efficiency of the Mine Planning Department
- Contribute towards a spirit of Teamness in area of responsibility
- Establish and Maintain Effective communication
- Ensure quality and quantity outputs are achieved
- Ensure Systems, practices, methods and procedures (pertaining mine planning) are implemented, maintained and continuously improved
- Ensure costs are controlled and wastage of resources is eliminated

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics
- Mining Technical Support (MTS) level 4 in Planning OR Advanced Planning /Survey
- Elementary Sampling/ MTS 3 Sampling
- Intermediate Geology/ MTS 3 Geology
- Mining Technical systems experience (Deswik/ Fusion/ Cadsmine and Microstation)
- § Above average Computer literacy
- Medical Fitness Certificate
- English proficiency
- 5 years’ relevant mining experience with exposure to the full value chain
Advantageous:
- Underground mining experience
