The Public Investment Corporation (PIC) invests funds on behalf of public sector
entities including the Government Employees Pension Fund. The organization
is the largest investment manager in the country and the continent. Applications
are invited from dynamic individuals for the following challenging position:

Position: Junior Developer x2
Job Grade: C1 – C3

Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable
Centre: Public Investment Corporation, Pretoria

Purpose of the Role: Responsible for agile development as well as support of PIC’s
business applications and digital solutions (including integration), for the assigned
business pillar (i.e., Listed, Unlisted or Corporate). Furthermore, will be responsible for
the rapid and iterative development of new and/or enhanced quality software in line
with business requirements (e.g., user stories) as well as approved architectures, IT
standards, and tools.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, IT, IS, or a related field.
  • Agile development Course/Attendance (Scrum).
  • 1-2 years of experience with application/software (including interfaces) design,
    development, and support.
  • Full SDLC experience (analyzing requirements, application design,
    development, testing, deployment, monitoring and maintenance).
  • ITIL Foundation and/or Agile certification (an added Advantage).
  • Any Microsoft / Applications certification.

Duties:

  • Execute hands-on full-stack software design, development (product features
    and functionality), testing, deployment, debugging, maintenance and support.
  • Consult with PIC business and IT stakeholders in the end-to-end agile software
    development and support lifecycle of new and existing solutions (e.g.
    applications, workflows, interfaces, reports, etc.).
  • Contribute to sprint estimation and planning as well as report in progress on
    assigned Sprint tasks.
  • Participate in peer reviews of software solutions.
  • Ensure that all licenses and software services are in line with the approved
    contracts.
  • Research new technologies, software products, and languages.
  • Recommend and perform software improvements and upgrades as well as
    migrate legacy to cloud-based software and applications (e.g. SaaS, PaaS)
  • Document, and modify software specifications (including low-level designs),
    procedures, standards, and manuals throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Provide assistance and training to the users regarding the use of allocated
    software applications.
  • Comply with PIC’s Agile and DevOps culture and practices.
  • Assist in various application lifecycle management processes, including
    change management, weekly and monthly reporting, user access
    management, vulnerabilities management, disaster recovery testing, internal
    audit and risk findings’ resolution, and so forth.
  • Comply with all PIC policies and related regulatory requirements.
