The Johannesburg Social Housing Company SOC Limited (JOSHCO) mandate is to develop and manage affordable
rental housing for the lower market as an integral part of efforts to eradicate the housing backlog of the City of
Johannesburg. JOSHCO is a registered Social Housing Institution and is accredited by the Social Housing Regulatory
Authority (SHRA). JOSHCO invites suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the following vacant
position.
Position : Risk Officer
Employment Status : Permanent
Department : Business Planning and Strategy
Purpose of the Job: This position is responsible to review, analyse risk management issues by identifying,
measuring, and making decisions on operational or enterprise risks for an organization. The role will requires
conducting of risk assessments, reporting and liaising with stakeholders
Responsibilities (but not limited to the following):
Create an integrated risk framework for the entire organization
Assess risk throughout the organization
Quantify risk limits
Develop plans to mitigate risks
Advise on directing capital to projects based on risk
Assist functional managers in obtaining risk mitigation
Monitor the progress of risk mitigation activities
Create and disseminate risk measurements and reports
All new policies are ratified by the relevant board structures and drafted in good faith.
Out-dated policies are kept up to date and relevant to regulate business activities and minimise unwarranted
legal implications.
Statutory compliance observed in all matters governed by mandatory legislation and policy requirements or
directives.
Contribute towards ensuring that there is a robust compliance framework including the execution and
monitoring of the obligations register and any potential changes in the environment to affect the obligations.
Contribute towards the drafting/review of compliance policies.
Engage regularly with relevant business units to ensure the risk management is embedded throughout
organization
Minimum job Requirements, interested applicants must be in possession of:
National Diploma / B-Tech / Degree in Internal Auditing/ Risk Management, Accounting/Finance and
Economics.
Postgraduate Diploma / Certificate in Risk Management will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience practicing in risk management.
Must be familiar with PFMA,MFMA insurance and liability as well as compliance standards for the industry,
including financial, property, operational, or personnel reporting, regulations, and standards.
Must possess knowledge of risk analysis, database management, risk metrics.
Knowledge of legal requirements and compliance regulations.
Proficient with risk management.
High level of written and oral communication skills.

General Management Skills, Financial Data Analysis skills, Budgeting and Budget skills and
Problem- Solving skills.
Technical Knowledge and Skills: Social Housing Sector Legislation, Familiar with Built
Environment, Urban Design or Town Planning, Spatial Planning.
