Afrimat Offshore based in Mauritius has a vacancy for a Accountant (6-Month Contract)

Duties / Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to help achieve Afrimat’s vision and objectives by managing the financial and accounting functions ensuring total compliance to all legal and reporting requirements. This position is to manage the financial functions of Afrimat’s Mauritian subsidiaries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for support in the following support areas:

  • Prepare and manage the financial administration function
  • Oversee the payroll
  • Preparation of tax returns as per the rules prescribed by the Mauritius Revenue Authority and responsible for tax filings and tax compliance
  • Preparation of annual financial statements, management accounts and other ad-hoc financial reporting in accordance with IFRS
  • Prepare required budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare for and assist with audits
  • Execute all agreed projects and / or carry out ad hoc assignments
  • Attend to reporting required by Statistics Mauritius and any other statuary requirements
  • Maintain an awareness of changes to the relevant financial, legal and regulatory framework within which the company operates

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Attributes
  • Accounting Degree (Required)
  • Occupational permit, resident, or Citizen of Mauritius (Required)
  • Fluent in both French and English (Preferred)
  • 5 years accounting experience
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Experience working with Accpac and CaseWare (Desirable)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Analysing and interpretation of information
  • Decision making ability in a fast-changing environment
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Self-disciplined and motivated
  • Honesty
