Junior SHE Officer Temp – 5 Months Contract (Afrimat Agri Lime – Northam)
Duties / Responsibilities / Key Functions
- Maintain Health and Safety Filing System as per Afrimat’s Processes
- Assist in the Implementation and maintenance of the safety system
- Conduct monthly Safety Inspection and compile Safety Reports
- Assisting the Management with and attend Internal, External and DMR Audits
- Ensure that all safety reps do their monthly inspections
- Conduct and advise managers/supervisors on Incident/Accident investigations
- The Radiation Protection Monitors (RPMs) is responsible for assisting the RPO by carrying out monitoring, sampling and recording of operations associated with the following:
- Screening surveys and hazard assessments
- Routine surveillance of work areas
- Contamination control and Dosimetry
- Discharge monitoring and environmental surveillance programmes
- Waste management programmes
- Transportation of radioactive material
- Record keeping
- Access control / Induction for visitors
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- School Grade: Matric
- Qualification – National Diploma in Safety Management or similar
- Driver’s License: Yes – Valid driver’s license
- Technical/Core Training: Safety Training
- Experience: 3 years’ experience as a Junior SHE Officer in a mining environment
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods; handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis
- Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites
- Knowledge of SHE Legislation
- Be prepared to work after hours when needed
- Will be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Will be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
