What you’ll need:
Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate or equal technical qualification.
- At least 3 years relevant experience.
- Technical knowledge of equipment and machinery.
What you’ll be doing:
Responsibilities:
*Perform mechanical operating functions:
– Read written instructions and drawings to perform task at hand.
– Responsible for the use of lathes, milling machines, guillotine, press brake, presses, to produce mild steel components.
– Responsible for the machining, forming and cutting of mild steel sections.
– Locating of the appropriate materials for the task at hand.
– Operate specialised machinery for industrial machining.
*Perform inspections on mechanical equipment:
– Monitors equipment for appropriate usage.
– Monitors working environment for hazards and maintaining good housekeeping.
– Follow safety protocol, using safety glasses, overalls, safety shoes, safety gloves, and ear plugs.
– Ensures that all measuring equipment is calibrated during use.
– Ensures that all jigs are returned to the appropriate storing place.
– Ensures that regular quality checks are done during production.
– Materials are clearly marked and identifiable before use.
*Perform maintenance on mechanical equipment:
– Ensures excellent housekeeping.
– Ensure, unused material is returned to its correct storage areas.
– Check oil levels, and grease all moving parts.
– Ensures all cutting edges and tools are kept in good conditions.
