Job PurposeResponsible for the overall implementation of Community Development programmes/projects.
Key Responsibility AreasCOMMUNITY MOBILISER
 Implements Community Development Programmes.
 Implements activities of the different Forums related to Community Development Programmes or Projects within the eThekwini Municipal area.
 Provides input into the development of Community Development Policy for the Municipality.
 Provides input during the establishment of Community Development Programmes or Projects at local level by facilitating the establishment process   of the development programmes or projects.
 Implements identified projects from business plan.
 Provides reports on the performance of programmes or projects in order for the Regional Coordinator to monitor progress. Updating the Regional   Co-ordinator in terms of agreed plans.
Willingness to work after hours and over the weekend.
SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER
 Determining the needs of communities and communicate these needs to the relevant government structures.
 Initiating and facilitating systems of information dissemination between communities, civil society structures and government.
 Participate and facilitating the implementation and monitoring of grants in Aid, community Gardens, Soup kitchen, Youth and Gender, Community  Based Planning, Community Based Structures, Vulnerable Groups, Masakhane and Traditional Leadership.
Compiling reports and documents pertaining to action taken and outcomes.
Collaborating with government departments and municipal units who are responsible for the implementation of projects and programmes at local  sphere of government.
Providing capacity building and support to communities and their development structures.
Flexibility to work after hours and weekends.

 Communication- The capacity to listen attentively, grasp issues, present information in a clear manner and respond appropriately to verbal and written communication of others.
 Service Delivery- Orientation The ability to explore and implement new ways of delivering services that contribute to the improvement of municipal processes in order to achieve municipal goals.
Client Orientation and Customer Focus- Understands the service needs of a client / customer (internal or external) and actively focuses on anticipating, meeting and exceeding the needs in a timely and appropriate manner.
 Action Orientation- The display of high work ethic in setting and achieving challenging goals, meeting deadlines and keeping promises. It manifests itself in one’s ability to stay focused on task, to be energetic, persistent and reliable.

Essential RequirementsCOMMUNITY MOBILISER
 Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
 Valid motor vehicle driving license.
 1 Year relevant experience.
SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER
 Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Community Development Studies or Public Administration or Social Development.
 Valid motor vehicle driving license.
 5 Years relevant experience.
 Computer Literacy.
Preferred RequirementsCOMMUNITY MOBILISER
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent and a Higher Certificate in Public Management or Public Participation.
 2 Years experience working with diverse groups and active involvement in community initiatives.


SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER
 Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Community Development Studies or Public Administration or Social Development
 6 Years relevant experience.
