The Legal Practice Council (LPC) is currently embarking on a process to fill vacant positions in the National Office, Kwa-Zulu
Natal and Eastern Cape Provincial Office.

Position: Legal Officer: Regulatory
Provincial Office: Eastern Cape (East London)
Reference Number: EC06/2024
CTC Salary Package: R571,000 all-inclusive package p.a.

Minimum Appointment Requirements
▪ Matric/Grade 12 Certificate;
▪ Law Degree;
▪ Admission as a Legal Practitioner;
▪ 2 years post admission experience in a legal
environment, of which 1 must be in prosecution;
▪ 2 years in a professional regulatory environment advantageous.

Knowledge of Legal Practice Act, No 28 of 2014;
▪ Section 109 Regulations;
▪ Code of Conduct for all Legal Practitioners and Juristic Entities;
▪ All aspects of law e.g., Road Accident Fund Act, Criminal Procedure Act, Labour Law;
▪ Rules of the LPC;
▪ Court procedure and the law of evidence;
▪ Financial principles.

Key Responsibilities
▪ Assess complaints received on allegations of misconduct;
▪ Gather and access all relevant information and documentation to
evaluate the complaint;
▪ Identify any additional areas of prima facie misconduct;
▪ Form a view on prima facie unprofessional
misconduct both within and outside the purview of the complaint;
▪ Investigate complaints within the allocated timeframe;
▪ Participate in the Committee to provide recommendations on decision;
▪ Record decisions of Committee and provide feedback to complainant and legal practitioner;
▪Handle appeals on papers, if required;
▪ Prepare agenda for the Committee if further roundtable discussions are to be held with all parties, when there insufficient evidence to prosecute;
▪ Lead the discussion with the Committee, resulting in a conclusion of the matter or if the matter needs to be referred to the Disciplinary Committee;
▪ Formulate charges in accordance with applicable legislation;
▪ Prosecute the charge and lead witness to give evidence to support the charge;
▪ Coordinate appeals and reviews of findings of Committee;
▪ Prepare a memorandum from Investigating Committee to conduct inspections;
▪ Conduct follow-ups on inspections that have taken place;
▪ Report on investigation findings for further prosecution or dismissal or send to Disciplinary Hearing Committee adjudication;
▪ Maintain records of decisions made by the Disciplinary Committee, Court or Council;
▪ General Office administration,
▪ Advisory support and staff supervision.

Position: Finance Clerk (Debtors)
Provincial Office: Kwa-Zulu Natal (Pietermaritzburg)

Minimum Appointment Requirements
▪ Matric/Grade 12 Certificate;
▪ National Diploma Finance (NQF 6),

▪2 years financial administration experience. ▪ MS Office (advanced excel),

▪ Financial accounting system;
▪ Document management and Finance policies and procedures,
▪ SAGE Payroll,
▪ Sage 300 Payables.

Key Responsibilities
▪ Complete all filing by the department;
▪ Assist with all incoming call for the department;
▪ Take messages and distribute
timeously;
▪ Assist with calling all members for subscriptions;
▪ Typing of documents for the department;
▪ Capturing all payments
received onto database in respect of subscriptions;
▪ Issuing of subscription invoices for current and new members;
▪ Send out subscription invoices;
▪ Compile and update spreadsheets with respect of arrangements for members subscription fees payments;
▪ Handover defaulting Attorneys to Regulatory department;
▪ Assist with the counting of assets and compiling the register;
▪ Assist with general office administration;
▪ Preparation of invoices, credit notes;
▪ Daily checking and signing off of all batches created by the accounts receivable official;
▪ Posting of all batches in A/R to update the General Ledger;
▪ Taking all telephone queries from the clients after the statements or SMS’s were send ;
▪ Make follow up telephonically with clients whose payments are not allocated correctly;
▪ Timely preparation of adjustments on the members account to show all the payments
that were made.

Position: General Worker
Provincial Office: Gauteng (National Office-Midrand)
Reference Number: NO06/2024
CTC Salary Package: R 188 053 all-inclusive package p.a

Minimum Appointment Requirements
▪ Matric/Grade 12 Certificate;
▪ Valid driver’s license with Professional Driving Permit, 2 years’ working experience in a similar role;
▪ Legal Practice Act, no 28 of 2014;
▪ MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
▪ Physical ability to perform manual labour tasks;
▪ Basic filling and communication skills;
▪ Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays when required.

Key Responsibilities
▪ Oversee the Cleaning and maintenance of the premises, replace light bulbs, fixing office door handles;
▪ Performing basic administrative tasks i.e. filling of documents, as request by various departments;
▪ Assist in loading and unloading materials and supplies when required;
▪ Provide Driver and messenger services;
▪ Perform daily trip and post trip vehicle inspection to ensure that the vehicle is always in a good condition, keep records of collected and delivered documents; mail collection from the post office; assist with courier services; collect, distribute and control movement of documents;
▪ Maintain accurate and up to date schedule trip sheets; i.e. log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption
▪ Liaise with Finance Department to ensure
vehicle maintenance services are carried out,
▪ Perform routine maintenance on pool vehicles such as monitoring fluid levels and replenishing fuel
▪ Report incidents and accidents timeously and compile vehicle condition reports and other records required by Management, transport Council members and employees as and when necessary.
